CCM Corona Yard Resiliency Project & Long-term Flood Mitigation

Corona Yard is where the inspection, maintenance, and overhaul of the Flushing Subway Line of New York City Transit (“NYCT”) takes place. Corona Yard provides storage for rail cars and includes signal towers, crew quarters, locker rooms, offices and training rooms, car wash facilities, and circuit breaker houses (“CBHs”). The existing grade and finished floor elevations throughout Corona Yard vary, and some elevations are below the Design Flood Elevation (“DFE”). Corona Yard is located near Flushing Bay and Flushing Creek in the Borough of Queens, New York, between Roosevelt Avenue and Meridian Road, New York.
The scope includes flood mitigation for several buildings at Corona Yard, involving waterproofing, brick layout, pile installation, and electrical work. In addition, inspections are carried out to ensure these activities’ quality and safety and verify that they are fully aligned with the project’s flood resiliency goals.
