Sandy Related – Redhook East & West

East Side Access is a public works project under construction by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York City, which will extend the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) from its Main Line in Queens into a new station under Grand Central Terminal on Manhattan’s East Side. The Harold Structures – Part 3 Westbound Bypass contract includes the construction of the westbound bypass structure, a 630-ft long tunnel with east and west end approach structures. The scope also included the installation of catenary foundations, poles, and signal bridges to support railroad systems. It was the first major construction contract funded by the Federal Railroad Administration’s High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail.

As a subconsultant, INFOTRAN was designated to provide structural engineering services to MTA-LIRR for the East Side Access. INFOTRAN’s scope of work includes preparation of various Structural engineering drawings, design and constructability review, shop drawing review, steel detailing and complete CADD support for LIRR East Side access project at Harold Structure.
